He coughs against your shoulder, the sound painfully fragile as he attempts to avoid shifting any more than he must to get the air out.
“You only broke…a few this time….douchebag.”
If he’s insulting you, it means he still cares. It is only when the insults cease that you must worry about the state of your relationship, and he’s so broken-up that even the act of breathing must hurt.
The fact that he’s making sure you know you still hold his affections makes your bloodpusher lurch. For the sake of his pride, you parry his words with a common admonishment.
“Language.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
He coughs again, harder, as you carefully maneuver him over the lip of the recuperacoon. His clothing will be ruined, but he’ll be alive. You will simply have to endure the daymares without sopor. You know you can do it, because you’ve done it before.
And when night falls, and he has recovered a bit more, he’ll drip sopor all over your hive, splashing green spades around your room, and you will remind him that if you catch him, you can cause him serious damage, and he won’t LET you catch him, until he’s ready to be hurt again.
You hate him so dearly.

If anyone was wondering how Orkneystuck!Equius lost that one ear, here’s your answer.
I got in an Orkneystuck mood and found this one Orcadian critter called a Nuckelavee, which is delightfully grotesque and I really wanted to draw it. Also, practice horses because horses are really hard!
So this results in Pucaquius beating up the Nuckelavee. It probably vaguely menaced Nepeta, which is not an action you take when Equius is around if you enjoy breathing.

and also I guess this is kind of relevant to Draw A Centaur Day? Pfft whatever I’m gonna use it to draw Andalites again.
